Aim of course
The aim is to get an overview of quantitative methods in risk management, and to apply those methods in concrete examples.
Subject of course
We consider different kinds of risk and their modelling, in particular market risk, credit risk, and operational risk. A main topic is the modelling of dependent defaults in a credit portfolio. Another topic is the application of Monte Carlo Simulation techniques for risk management purposes.

Examination modalities
Die VU besteht aus zwei Teilen: Teil 1 (Hubalek) und Teil 2 (Leitner). Es sind für beide VU-Teile Übungsaufgaben schriftlich auszuarbeiten. Dabei werden insgesamt 2 * 15 Punkte vergeben.
Für eine positive Note ist es in jedem Fall notwendig (aber nicht hinreichend) in jedem Teil jeweils mindestens 5 Punkte zu erarbeiten.
Die Note ergibt sich dann: ab 18 Punkten, sehr gut (1), 17--16 Punkte, gut (2), 15--14 Punkte, befriedigend (3), 13--12 Punkte, genügend (4). Am Semesterende ist es möglich, die Note durch eine kurze mündliche Prüfung über den Gesamtstoff zu verbessern.
