Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • correctly use the terms vector space, linear dependency and basis,
  • understand the meaning and use the properties of an inner product,
  • compute with matrices,
  • perform a change of basis,
  • recognize linear systems of equations and efficiently determine and interpret the set of solutions,
  • determine and interpret determinant, eigenvalues and eigenvectors of a quadratic matrix,
  • differentiate real functions in several variables, and determine their local extrema,
  • determine and interpret integrals over paths and surfaces
  • solve linear and exact differential equations as well as linear systems of differential equations.

Subject of course

Linear algebra, differential and integral calculus of functions of several real variables, integral theorems of vector calculus, ordinary differential equations.
