Aim of course

Understanding the fundamentals and methods of Architectural Geometry that enable complex geometry in architecture.
Insights into the newest research results in the field of Architectural Geometry as well as their applications in recent architectural projects.

Subject of course

This VU is a core subject of the module Digital design and production. The discussed topics are:

  • Freeform surfaces
  • Meshes
  • Subdivision surfaces and modeling
  • Analysis of shapes
  • Developable surfaces and unfoldings
  • Shape optimization problems
  • Discrete freeform structures

The lab-part intends further discussion and implementation of the topics above.
