After successful completion of the course, students are able to explain the fundamental concepts of the differential and Riemannian geometry and to apply the methods they have learned during the course.
Differential manifolds and Riemannian geometry; submanifolds and their curvatures; curves and surfaces in Euclidean geometry.
Exercise.
Please register in TUWEL, the course page:https://tuwel.tuwien.ac.at/course/view.php?id=22405 There you will be able to checkmark the exercises that you have solved and can present the solution in the class. The submission is open until 10:05 of the day of the exercise class (which is Friday by default). Please, report any bugs on the TUWEL platform to Roman Prosanov: roman.prosanov@tuwien.ac.at Every exercise will be presented in the class by one of the students (chosen at random) who have checkmarked this exercise. The solution is subsequently graded by a note from 1 to 5. If you have checkmarked an exercise, then you must be present in the class at the beginning of its presentation, otherwise your checkmark will be removed. At the end of the semester every student receives one grade based on his/her blackboard presentations and one grade based on the percentage of checkmarked exercises:(85%; 100%] → 1(70%; 85%] → 2(60%; 70%] → 3(50%; 60%] → 4[0%; 50%] → 5 The total grade is the average of the two grades above. A student can skip one class for a good reason and present their solutions for the current exercise set in the written form before the class (either send by e-mail a scan of the solutions in a good quality as a pdf file or submit the solutions personally to Roman Prosanov). If a student has to skip several classes for a good reason, then each case will be decided individually. If a student does not attend a class without a good reason, then the checkmarks for the current set are not counted.
