Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • describe the mathematical modelling of wave phenomena
  • solve the resulting time-harmonic and time-dependent partial differential equations using finite element methods

Subject of course

modelling of time-harmonic and time-dependent waves, finite elements for wave-type equations, time-stepping, absorbing boundaries

Teaching methods

Lecture: blackboard/beamer presentation

Exercises: students solve theoretical and practical examples (using the finite element library NGSolve)
