After successful completion of the course, students are able to

  • know basic concepts and basic working methods of mathematics

  • apply set operations to general sets

  • describe the concept and basic properties of a real function
  • capture qualitatively elementary functions and special functions
  • apply the concept of a vector space and the associated properties and transfer it to abstract sets
  • solve linear systems of equations
  • work with matrices
  • understand the concept of limit value and its application to number sequences
  • grasp the basic characteristics and relationships in the differential calculation
  • calculate tangents using differential calculus and calculate curve discussions
  • calculate indefinite expressions
  • understand methods of integral calculus and to apply them in examples
  • analyze convergence / divergence of series and power series

Examination modalities

After a positive completion (ie at least 20 points out of a possible 40 points) of a two-hour written exam with four examples  from the subject area of the lecture, following the examples given and the examples compiled in the exercises, a half-hourly oral examination takes place. During the oral part also  theoretical basics are asked. The grade consists of these two parts, whereby the written part is received in about two thirds of the grade.
