The lecture aims for - development and use of transfer function models in basic physiology, - understanding feedback (control) concepts of dynamics in basic physiology, and experimenting with models for getting better understanding of some aspects in basic physiology.
The Lecture 'Transfer Functon- and Control - Models in Medicine and Physiology' introduces into modelling of physiological processes by means of concepts from mathematics of control. In modelling, the technique of Transfer Functions is used, together with princples of feedback control. As mathematical basis, the Laplace Transformation helps in understanding and analyzing the models.
While theory is going along with properties of the modeling technique and of Laplace Transformation and nonlinear extension, application covers a wide range in simple physiology and medicine: infusion effects, ergometric blood pressure behaviour, blood pressure control, stenosis-caused pathological blood pressure, compartment models for blood circulation, renal clearance, respiratory control, etc.
