Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the use of computers in the neurosciences concenrning modeling, simulation, data collection, and manipulation of neural signaling.

Subject of course

Basics of neurosciences, direct and indirect neuron computer connections, manipulation of the sensoric and motor system. Mathematical models of neurons, synapses and neural nets. Applications for biomedical engineering.

Teaching methods

Basics of electrophysiology, biophysical principles of neural signals and their mathematical description, recording and stimulation of neurons in labs and for medical applications, neuroprothetic methods, genetic manipulations.
