Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to talk about and explain recent topics of partial differential equations, in particular dissipative and dispersive phenomena. Moreover, they are able to give insight in modern questions of research to give intelligible talks about their own research.

Subject of course

Diffusive and dispersive effects in nonlinear partial differential euqations, including e.g. diffusive quantum models, reaction-diffusion equations, financial models, Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equations, Schroedinger equations, Camassa-Holm equations, Maxwell equations, and Wigner equations.

Teaching methods

Expert scientists and PhD-students will give weekly talks. The students prepare a talk about their research and present it to the plenum. They receive a feedback from the participants afterwards.

This seminar is obligatory for the PhD students of the Doctoral School "Dissipation and dispersion of nonlinear partial differential equations"; other PhD students are invited to participate

The seminar takes place on Wednesdays, 14:00 - 16:00, start: 02.03.2022.

The seminar is expected to take place online via Zoom until at least Easter.
