After successful participation students should be able to solve given problems using computer simulation. That includes:

• Development of a suitable model using a chosen modeling approach
• Acquire and pre-process necessary data and parametrise a model with them.
• Define reasonable simulation experiments and preform them in a reproducible way.
• Interpret and visualise the simulation output and use it for decision support.

The lecture deals with almost all aspects of modern modeling and simulation including exemplary data aquisition, model calibration, or output visualisation. Moreover it gives a broad overview over the following modeling methods

• System Dynamics,
• Discrete Event Simulation
• Agent-based Simulation

In order to pass the lecture, students have to collaborate on a projects in groups of up to four persons.
