Broaden the knowledge in one of the topics of the applied and numerical analysis.
This term, we focus on interpolation of Banach spaces.
Given two embedded Banach spaces X_1 \subseteq X_0, interpolation allows to define intermediate spaces X_1 \subseteq X_\theta \subseteq X_1 for all 0 < \theta < 1. Classical examples are provided by the L^p spaces. Applications to numerical analysis follow from interpolation of Sobolev spaces (or Besov spaces).
If you want to participate and to give a lecture, please contact Dirk Praetorius via email dirk.praetorius@tuwien.ac.at to make an appointment and to fix the topic of a possible talk.
Each student gives a 90-minute lecture. Moreover, a term paper (approx. 10 pages) has to be written.
