Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • define a research question.
  • develop a coherent research design.
  • research trustworthy sources of scientific literature.
  • plan the individual phases of the writing process, taking into account a realistic time frame.
  • organize the phases of the writing process in a structured manner.
  • create a meaningful exposé.
  • quote and paraphrase correctly.
  • use literature management software.
  • overcome any writer's block or lack of motivation.
  • evaluate and interpret obtained data.
  • adhere to the rules of academic honesty
  • report on how to make documents accessible.

Subject of course

This course is designed to support students in writing their theses. However, attending this course does not replace attending a Bachelor's or Master's seminar, as there is no supervision, only assistance in the writing process. 

Please note: To attend the course, you should have already registered a topic and found a supervisor. 

Overview of topics: Writing as a process, research question, research design, literature research, citation rules, writing techniques, structure of academic papers, dealing with psychological challenges, accessibility of documents, avoiding plagiarism, copyright and image rights, data evaluation and interpretation
