Subject of course

In this lecture students (who have already registered a topic and found a supervisor)
will be supported by writing their academic thesis (BA- or MA-theses).

Attention: This course is NOT a substitute for attending a BA- or MA- seminar, because there
will bei no content-related support, but only assistance in the writing process.

Topics are: typical phases of a writing process, creation of research questions,
creation of abstracts, structure of scientific papers, writing techniques,
project planning and time management skills, research designs,
examples of common pitfalls in data interpretations and analyze, good practice examples,
dealing with a lack of motivation, presentation design, plagiarism avoidance and research ethics,
"correct" citation, literature research (tools), literature management software

Teaching methods

  • Keynote speeches by internal and external experts on different aspects of the topic

  • individual work on your own thesis

Mandatory participation in the kickoff event "Long night of unfinished theses"
on 09.03.2020 at 6 p.m. in the lecture room EI 7 (Gußhausstr. 25-29, ground floor).

On Monday, May 18th. please take your notebook with installed MS Project (available as a student license for € 4.8) with you.
