Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • closely reflect their role as well as tasks as tutors in relation to the situation and define them more clearly.
  • reflect on the relationship between tutors and students and moderate them according to their role.
  • demonstrate the importance of social skills for the communication and learning process and act accordingly.
  • better understand difficult communication situations as well as conflicts and deal with them in a de-escalating manner.
  • apply selected university didactic elements for the design of conducive feedback settings in tutorials.

  • Interaction and relationship building between tutors and students
  • Conducting conversations in tutoring situations
  • Principles of giving feedback and conducting feedback discussions
  • Dealing with difficult communication situations and conflict management

Teaching methods

The course offers an alternation of short inputs, interactive methods and group work as well as discussions in dyads/triads and in plenary session. It aims to provide an example of the relevance of social skills in working with students. A special focus is placed on reflecting on one's own objectives.

Examination modalities

  • Continuous attendance and active participation in the seminar.
    Continuous attendance on all three dates is essential. In the event of absences, appropriate proof (e.g. medical confirmation in the event of illness) must be provided. If attendance falls below 85%, no certificate can be issued.
  • Written report
    Participants are given a practical task for the time between the two blocks of the course, on which they write a report.
  • The assessment is carried out by awarding grades.
