After successful completion of the course, students are able to answer central questions concerning gender related issues in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) field. Students have dealt with selected topics, such as gender stereotypes and socialisation, self-representation and image of (female) engineers, the current situation of females* and males* at the University of Technology as well as in the workplaces.
The students have also paid attention to the research perspective "Gender in Research Content”, i.e. the students have dealt with literature from the gender perspective and their respective fields of studies.Generally spoken, the course aims to stimulate a self-reflecting process among the students.
Introduction to the debates and current research questions in the field gender and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
Self-reflection on societal phenonmon and strauctures; images and stereotypes of engineers; situation of women and men in the STEM-field (at universities as well as in research institutions and companys).
Within the course gender sensitive methods and didactics will be applied.
Gender-sensitive vocational training methods and didactics will be applied, such as self-reflecting exercises and positioning exercises; furthermore, interactive teaching and learning methods, such as impulse talks, single works and group works, structured discussion with leading questions, presentations

With the certificate Gender and Diversity Competence, graduates prove their competence in the consideration of gender and diversity aspects.
Prerequisite for the issuance of the certificate is the completion of courses from the following list in the amount of at least 16 ECTS.
Three courses amounting to 7 ECTS must be completed; for the remaining 9 ECTS, all courses from the list "Optional Courses" can be chosen.
