Aim of course

Mastering of the basic theories of electromagnetism, proper selection of suitable field models and of mathematical solution techniques.

Subject of course

Introduction: Historical development; Analytical tools. Properties of electromagnetic fields: Global and local properties; Field equations in paticular cases; Energy and momentum. Static and steady fields: Electrostatics and quasi-electrostatics; Selected electrostatic fields; Relaxation and convection of electric charges; Steady magnetic fields; Selected steady magnetic fields. Induction phenomena: Quasi-steady fields; Diffusion of magnetic fields. Electromagnetic waves: Basic equations and potentials; Types of waves; Waves on transmission lines.
