Selected topics from the current database research; Focus: several aspects of incomplete information in information integration: *) Foundations of Incomplete Information *) Schema Mappings *) Data Exchange *) Data Integration *) Query Answering Using Views *) Uncertain and Probabilistic Data *) Inconsistent Data Didactical Concept: *) The contents is presented by the course instructor. *) Interaction: The students are asked questions to stimulate the ability to think for themselves. On the other hand, students are encouraged to contribute to the lecture by questions/comments. *) Work on a research article: Each student is assigned an article from database research. The goal is to provide a written report and an oral presentation describing the central ideas of the article. Assessment: is based on the work on the research article (written report and oral presentation) and an oral exam.
